Things about SDA: Really
enjoy meeting and learning from others in the industry, and learning
more and more about providing exceptional Administration for Cuningham
Group.
Education and
Work History: My
undergraduate degree is in Piano Performance with a concentration in
business from the University of St. Catherine. I have played for
theater groups for the past 25 years – everywhere from Dudley Riggs,
Chanhassen, Theatre in the Round, to Northern Lights Playhouse in
Northern Wisconsin where I spent 3 summers right after college as their
resident Musical Director. I was a High School Teacher at St.
Bernard’s in St. Paul right after college. Budget cuts led to a
75% position after 2 years, so I moved to PBA Inc./DRIASI, where I spent
16 years – I began as an Administrative Assistant, and moved on to
become an Assistant Vice President, running their 70 seat call center.
After burn out set in, I had an opportunity to become the Director of
Liturgy and Music full time for the Church/School where I grew up and
had been playing piano since 1974. I took that job in 2001.
In 2008 I had an opportunity to become the Director of Career Services
for Minnesota School of Business, teaching and working with students and
graduates to hone their skills to network, write a terrific resume, and
obtain gainful employment in their field. The 30 mile commute was
not great, and I landed at Cuningham Group in 2011 – a 4 mile commute
from my home. I love learning in a new environment, and look
forward to the future with a great company!
Tell us about
your personal life: I
have been married for 5 years (a second marriage for both of us) to a
wonderful man, Greg. My daughter Kim is a Senior at Lehigh
University in Pennsylvania. She graduates next May and is planning
to go on to law school out east. My son Graig is a Freshman at
Bradley University in Illinois. He is on a full athletic
scholarship – he’s a left-handed pitcher for the Bradley Braves.
My step daughter Rachel is 28, and works as Online Academic coordinator
for Minnesota School of Business – she hopes to finish her Masters
Degree in March. My step son Peter is a St. Cloud State Graduate,
and is the Community Relations director for Broadview University in Salt
Lake City Utah. My husband and I play in a band together – we
focus on classic rock ‘n roll. He plays bass and I play
keyboards and sing. There are 5 of us.
What are your
personal interests and hobbies: Playing in my band, being Musical
Director for my traveling Choir, and spending time with my husband and
children.
What’s your
favorite meal or restaurant? Love sushi, and all the
restaurants and bars in NE Minneapolis!
What’s your
favorite Movie? I
have several. During October I love horror films – especially
classic films from the 1950’s, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
During the Christmas season I love Musicals and films like Meet Me in
St. Louis. I am a highly nostalgic person, so give me some popcorn
and a good old fashioned classic film and I am happy!
Incidentally, I also love the original Twilight Zone TV Series, and look
forward to watching the episodes whenever possible.
What’s the
last book you read? House Rules by Jodi Piccoult. Very good book!
What’s the
most exciting place you have visited?
My sister and I took my mom to Italy in 2010 – we visited Rome and
Tuscany primarily. It was
fabulous and I can’t wait to go back there with my husband some day
soon!!
